Local Activities

For The Walkers…

In an area of outstanding natural beauty,  the walks and wildlife are superb. There are many circular walks on the doorstep, and access to the Lambourn Valley Way is a 2 minute walk away.

Hungerford is a 10 minute drive, where you will find the canal to either walk by or even take the boat. There is a wealth of little shops, antique arcades, pubs and restaurants.  The Funghi Club is well worth a visit the food is fabulous!

For the Foodies…

We are spoilt for choice. On our doorstep, just a 2 minute walk we will soon have The Great Shefford, due to re-open in May our local pub has undergone extensive re-furbishment , and everyone in the village is very excited to see its progress.  You can sit by the river here and enjoy a drink whilst looking out for the kingfisher.

The Plough at Eastbury, The Woodspeen Restaurant, The Queens, The Boxford and The Pheasant – to name just a few… the list is endless! But before you go out and about, you can enjoy 2 Ivy House’s continental breakfast, which is inclusive of the room rate.

For the Racegoers…

Newbury racecourse is just 7 miles away and hosts some fantastic meetings, and Lambourn (The Valley of the Racehorse) is a stone’s throw away.

For the Adventurous…

For theatre aficionados, we are delighted to recommend The Watermill Theatre, which offers everything from Shakespeare and classic plays to new writing.

If you’re into sport, we are situated near a selection of golf courses, including Donnington Grove Championship golf course.

If you fancy learning some culinary skills, then don’t miss the Woodspeen cookery school kitchen.

And if all this is not enough, you can also find a direct train line into London from Hungerford.
